Liberation of Raqqa is near, SDF spokeswoman says
Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) control 85 percent of Raqqa and complete liberation of the city is near, SDF spokeswomen Cihan Shex Ehmed said.
Ehmed released a statement on SDF website about the current situation in Raqqa. She said that SDF fighters now control over 85 percent of the city and only a few neighbourhoods left under ISIS control.
“After the mines are cleared and the rest of the neighbourhoods are captured we will announce the liberation of the city within a few days” she said.
The operation to liberate Raqqa started on June 6. SDF sources say only a few hundred ISIS gangs remain in Raqqa with a number of civilians who are being used as human shields.
