Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt enters its seventh day

The operation launched by the SDF together with the Internal Security Forces and the International Coalition, aims to detect the enclaves of ISIS cells in the civilian homes and farms in the southern countryside of Qamishlo and Hasaka eastern countryside.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement about the ongoing Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt against ISIS terrorist cells in northern Syria.

For the seventh day in a row, the joint forces involved in Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt continue to track down ISIS terrorist cells in the areas of Tal Hamis, Tal Brak, and al-Hol.

“On the seventh day, the forces swept the villages of Rabia, Taghlib Fawqani, Taghlib Tahtani, and Malutha in the countryside of Tel Hamis, in addition to the roads linking al-Hol, Tal Hamis, and the Syrian-Iraqi border area along 40 km,” reported the SDF Media Center on Wednesday.

According to the SDF statement, the forces arrested an ISIS member involved in financial extortion acts against the populace in favor of ISIS terrorist cells and confiscated weapons and ammunition in his possession. The forces also arrested another terrorist involved in many attacks and he repeatedly tried to run away.

Additionally, the joint forces detected many weapons concealed by ISIS cells in the civilian farms and unauthorized military uniforms used for camouflage.

“In conjunction with Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt, the SDF Counter-terrorism Units continue their anti-ISIS operations in Deir Ezzor, arresting three terrorists and confiscating several weapons and military equipment,” SDF reported.
