Hundreds of people protested in front of a Russian base in Kobanê against the Turkish attacks on northeastern Syria. The action was organized by the women's umbrella organization Kongreya Star in the Euphrates region. The protest was directed against Russia's inaction in the face of the Turkish state's continued attacks, which result in daily deaths and injuries. Russia acts as the guarantor power of the ceasefire negotiated in 2019, which Turkey has never honored.
Kurdish activist Eyşe Efendî stated the following in front of the headquarters of the Russian military police: "We have already been here several times and demanded that the attacks of the Turkish state on our region be stopped. However, Russia is not fulfilling its responsibility to the population. If the Russian forces do not fulfill their responsibility, they should get out of here. They have not kept their word and therefore there is no reason for their presence. They must stop the Turkish attacks or leave our region."
Eyşe Efendî, who is a member of the Council of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates region, announced that the people will continue to resist the Turkish occupation. She pointed out the high sacrifice of the people in the fight against ISIS and stated that the same attitude applies to the resistance against the Turkish state.
Meanwhile, a delegation of demonstrators conveyed their demands to Russian representatives. PYD politician Ehmed Şêxo said after the talks that the Russian side had once again promised to stop the attacks.
