The Kurdish National Unity Parties have called on the Kurdish people to take to the streets and rise up against the attacks of the Turkish state.
The Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) made a statement on the Turkish state’s genocidal attacks against Bashur (South) and other parties of Kurdistan.
The press conference in front of the PYD (Democratic Union Party) office in Qamishlo city was attended by representatives of Kurdish political parties. The press statement was read in Kurdish and Arabic.
“OCCUPATION ATTACKS INCREASED”
Recalling that the Turkish state’s military campaign against Southern Kurdistan began on June 16, the statement said the following:
“Southern Kurdistan territory is targeted by brutal attacks from both air and ground. The attacks are directed against the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and target civilian settlements. Massacres are perpetrated against civilian population in Southern Kurdistan, mainly in Shengal and Maxmur. A number of people fell as martyrs or got wounded as a result of these attacks. The Turkish state seeks to do what ISIS couldn’t against the Kurdish people, violating all international conventions.”
Pointing to the Turkish state’s acts in the occupied areas of North-East Syria such as Afrin, Serekaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad), the statement continued: “The Turkish state has launched a large scale war against the Kurdish people who have made advances at heavy costs for many years. With its attacks against the Kurdish people’s forces who are fighting for freedom, peace and democracy, the Turkish state wants to expand its occupation zone and invade the territory extending up to Sulaymaniyah.”
“WE CALL ON OUR PEOPLE TO TAKE TO THE STREETS”
The statement continued with the following call: “We invite our people to continue with their democratic struggle and to take to the streets in four parts of Kurdistan and abroad in protest at the occupation attacks. We also call upon all Kurdish political parties, movements, intellectuals and journalists to denounce Turkey’s attacks and plans to the whole world.”
CALL UPON ARAB AND EUROPEAN STATES
Remarking that the Arab states and their peoples should get wise to the intentions of the Turkish state and take its attacks seriously, the statement said; “There should be action with the awareness that the unity and common struggle of peoples can frustrate Turkey’s plans. The Arab League and Gulf countries should adopt a serious stand against the Turkish state’s occupation attacks and its tendencies in the region, and take action at international level.”
Noting that Turkey has been conducting its attacks with NATO weapons, the statement added; “The NATO and European Union member states should restrain Turkey’s expansionist policies. Action should be taken against the Turkish state’s unlawful attacks in Southern Kurdistan, Rojava, Syria, Iraq and Libya.”
