The SDF announced that it launched a security operation in the Kiber region, west of Deir ez-Zor, after a military point in Deir ez-Zor was targeted by ISIS mercenaries.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that it has launched a security operation in the Kiber region, west of Deir ez-Zor, due to the recent targeting of members of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Administration and opinion leaders by ISIS mercenaries.

On this occasion, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) made a press statement in Deir ez-Zor. Leys Xesam, one of the commanders of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, said: “Recently, the mobility of ISIS cells in the west of Deir ez-Zor has increased. Finally, they targeted a point belonging to our military forces. For this reason, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council and security institutions followed the movements of those cells and determined their locations.

Our forces surrounded the Kiber region and launched an operation against the terrorist cells. Most of the ISIS mercenaries were caught and their weapons, which they attacked at the security point, were also confiscated.

Citizens in the Kiber region, who wanted us to increase the security checkpoint in the region, evaluated the move positively and supported us. Our security operations will continue until these cells are destroyed and the area is secured.”
