Shehba Canton Council: Turkey must leave Afrin!

Shehba Canton Council underlined that the people of Afrin made history with their 58-day resistance in 2018. The Council stated that the Turkish state should be expelled from the region.

Shehba Canton Council condemned the invasion of Afrin by Turkey two years ago with a press statement in Fafîn district.

'Turkey attacked with mercenaries and targeted the gains of the Kurds'

The press release read by Shehba Canton Council Member Mihemed Mamo, said that the invading Turkish state bombed the city of Afrin with 72 fighter jets on the first day of the attack. The attack, said the statement, was carried out using tens of thousands of ISIS and al Nusra mercenaries, and had the approval of the USA and Russia, in an attempt to erase the gains achieved by the Kurdish people.

Mamo stated that the YPG and YPJ fighters made history with heroes like Avesta Xabûr, Barîn Kobanê and Karker during the 58-day resistance against the invasion attacks.

Massacre, kidnapping, torture, pillage...

Mamo said that 300,000 Afrin civilians were forced to leave their homeland after the occupation and settled in Shehba.

The statement also reminded that even the historical sites of Afrin and the olive trees got their share of sufference because of the brutality of the invaders. The world remained silence about the policy of change in the demographic structure of the cities, with ISIS and mercenaries families been brought from Guta and Idlib and put in the houses of the Kurdish population forced to flee.

The statement ended with the following remarks: "As Shehba Canton Council, we condemn the Turkish state invasion of Afrin and call on the USA and Russia to remove the invaders.

In order to secure the rights of all our peoples and to build a life in which Syrian people can live in peace, we invite all institutions and organizations, especially the United Nations and human rights organizations, to work for the complete liberation of the north of Syria, and to remove the obstacles put in front of the Autonomous Administration so that proper talks can begin."
