The remains of Manbij Military Council fighters Ocalan Bekir, Welat Nebo Mihemed, Mustefa El Ebdullah, Selamen El Xemis, Ebdullah El Hemade and Mustefa Derwîş, who fell as martyrs in a Turkish drone attack while they went to rescue an injured child were laid to rest.
Speaking at the funeral, Manbij Military Council Spokesperson Şervan Derwîş said: “Manbij is a city of peace, love and honor. Its freedom was achieved thanks to the blood of the martyrs. No one can break the will of the people."
Manbij Legislative Assembly co-chair Mihemed El Ebo promised that they will “establish a new Syria and a dignified life,” and added that "no one can break our will in any way."
Rebî Izedîn, co-chair of the Martyrs' Families Council, and Farûq El-Maşi, co-chair of the North and East Syria Social Affairs Board expressed their condolences to the families of the martyrs and the Kurdish people.
At the end of the ceremony, the martyrs' certificates were read by Mehmûd Abu Ido, a member of the Martyrs' Families Council, and delivered to their families. Afterwards, the bodies of the martyrs were buried among the mothers' zılgıt.
Turkey has intensified attacks against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in recent days. According to preliminary figures, at least 16 people have been killed and 19 others injured in numerous drone and artillery attacks in regions such as Manbij, Afrin, Shehba and Qamishlo over the past two days. The soldiers of the Syrian regime and a Russian military transporter were also affected by the attacks.
