The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Russian jets shelled Kabana frontline in the north-eastern Latakia countryside for the first time since the new ceasefire came into effect.
The Observatory has monitored yesterday morning rocket attacks by regime forces targeting areas on Kabana frontline in Jabal al-Akrad in the northern countryside of Latakia.
Areas in Al-Fatira, Kansafra and Safohin in Jabal al-Zawiya were also targeted. The attack came on the 89th consecutive day of the new ceasefire.
The mentioned area is occupied by the Turkish backed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Hurras al-Din and Turkistan Islamic Party.
The Syrian regime’s operation on HTS-controlled Idlib was suspended after the ceasefire between Turkey and Russia.
The Turkish-Russian deal also anticipates joint patrol on the M4 highway, which is of vital importance for Damascus and connects Aleppo to Latakia passing through Idlib.
Russian air strikes reportedly seek to move the mercenary groups from the highway and some villages in the region of Sah al-Hab. Both Syrian and Russian forces are deployed in the villages in question.
