Speaker of Turkish Parliament: Öcalan’s call positive and extremely useful

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said that they saw Abdullah Öcalan’s call on February 27 as “positive and extremely useful”.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş spoke about the ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ made by Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February through the DEM Party İmralı Delegation. The Kurdish leader highlighted the urgent need for democratic politics and called on the PKK to lay down arms and dissolve itself.

Speaking at an event in Ankara, Kurtulmuş said, “We are in a period when a new development will begin in the region. Today, we continue to hold together and move forward strongly as the differences in a large family of a broad fraternal geography where the Turk is no different from the Kurd, the Kurd from the Arab, the Arab from the Persian, the Laz from the Georgian, the Abaza from the Circassian.”

Kurtulmuş stated, “I would like to express that we see the call from İmralı as positive and extremely useful. We will continue to work for this together in good faith, sincerity and transparency.”

“God willing, results will be achieved as soon as possible and our eternal brotherhood will continue in this land and in this geography until the Day of Judgment without any provocation,” the Parliament Speaker added.

The Speaker of Parliament did not specify the steps to be taken by the government for the process to move forward.
