Syrian government embargo kills 17-day-old baby

A 17-day-old baby died in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood of Aleppo due to the Syrian government embargo imposed on the region.

The Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods in Aleppo remain under the embargo of the 4th Division, an elite formation in the Syrian regime's army.

Due to the embargo, basic life supplies such as flour, fuel, medicine and food are not allowed into the neighbourhoods.

The neighbourhood residents are exposed to inhuman treatment amid a lack of fuel and winter conditions.

A 17-day-old baby named Hisên Ebdullah Kîbar froze to death. Hospital sources revealed that the baby's death was caused by pneumonemia due to the cold weather.

Most recently, a 4-year-old child named Wisa Sîdo froze to death.
