A fire erupted after the explosion of a gas stove on Friday in the Newroz Camp in the North of the Derik city in northern Syria. The fire killed 4 children and injured 7 other people, of whom 3 more have died today.
Enter Sino, a doctor at Heseke Public Hospital, spoke to ANHA and said the following: “Those brought to hospital with injuries had second- and third-degree burns. Mihemed Hemid who suffered 20 percent burn injuries, has been discharged after being treated. Mihemed İlewi Sacir (35) with 12 percent burn injuries is recovering, while Fatma Mihemed with 90 percent burn and Wedha Sacir with 80 percent burn continue to be treated. Ehmed Hamid and Sureya Hemud with 90 percent burn and Muyeser Îlêwî with 100 percent burn have lost their life this morning.”
Dicle Mihemed from the administration of the Newroz Camp said that those injured received the initial treatment in hospitals in Derik before being transferred to Heseke.
The Newroz Camp houses families who were forced to emigrate from Serêkaniyê and Zirgan as a result of the Turkish state invasion attacks. The fire in the camp killed on Friday four children named Teysîr Mihemed Îlêwî El-Sacir (6), Diyana El-Sacir (8), Beraa El-Sacir (2) and Esed El-Saric (8).
