On Thursday and Friday night, the Turkish army again attacked villages in the canton of Shehba with howitzers and DShK machine guns. During the night, the villages of Hirbilê, Semoqa and Umm al-Hosh were attacked. Seven shells fired from howitzers had already hit the village of Halîsa during the day. Buildings were damaged in the process.
In view of the escalating attacks and Turkish threats of invasion, the local government declared a state of emergency on Wednesday. It is feared that a large-scale Turkish invasion is imminent. The Shehba region is at the centre of the attackers' focus. The cities of Manbij and Tel Rifat have been declared the first targets of attack by Turkish regime leader Erdoğan.
