Turkish-backed militia kidnap three civilians in Afrin

Turkish-backed mercenaries have abducted three civilians in Mabeta, Afrin. This year alone, 198 civilians were abducted, ten murdered and ten more injured by the occupying forces in Afrin.

The al-Amshat militia under Turkish command abducted three civilians from the village of Kaxrê in Afrin’s Mabeta district, according to the ANHA news agency. The kidnapped civilians have been named as Hezên Ebdo, Semîr Faêq and Manan Ebo. The three villagers were abducted to an unknown location.

In early February, a civilian was extorted for money by the al-Amshat militia, severely tortured and then thrown into a well.

The 75-year-old man told the following on what he has been through: "One night, Turkish soldiers and members of the al-Amshat militia stormed my house. Without any reason, they began to beat me cruelly. I fainted because of the torture and I could not see what was happening around me. As I am old, I could not defend myself. They hit me on the head with a gun. They wanted $3,000 from me. I told them I didn't have that much money. Then they threw me in the well and tried to kill me. When I fell down the well, I lost consciousness. I woke up the next morning. I climbed out of the well and saw the traces of torture on my body. I still have these marks."

Al-Amshat is the extreme right-wing Suleiman Shah Brigade, which in particular provides the police troops of the occupation force in Afrin. According to Afrin human rights organization, 198 civilians were kidnapped, ten murdered and ten more injured by the occupation forces in Afrin this year alone.
