Turkish state annexes Syrian soils through occupation walls

The Turkish state, which has built occupation walls in Northern and Eastern Syria, is violating international law by annexing Syrian soils into its map.

The invading Turkish state built a 415 km long occupation wall in Northern and Eastern Syria from the town of Ain Diwar in Derik to Zor Mixar village in Kobanê in 2016-2017. This wall built by the Turkish state is the third longest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China and the USA-Mexico wall.

Barbed wires have been placed on the wall that was completed in 2017. This 3-meter-high wall is the biggest proof of the occupation of Syrian territory. In addition, even though the Turkish state has violated all international conventions and laws in Syria, the international public, especially the Damascus government, remained silent against all these crimes.

27 thousand decares annexed to Turkey

The villages ofGoran, Qere Mox and Aşmê in northern Kobanê and villages in Amûdê-Dirbêsiyê border strip in Cizire region are annexed to Turkey through the occupation wall built along the border in Syrian soil.

A total of 95 villages including those in Afrin, north of Aleppo, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî are thus annexed to the territory of Turkey. According to the data of the Cizire Human Rights Organization, approximately 27 thousand 33 decares of land is under Turkish occupation.

Walls and massacres

In the meantime, approximately 13 thousand olive trees and Aleppo pistachio trees were cut to build the walls. Hundreds of people protested in Qamishlo and Kobanê, especially after the wall built in Afrin. Attacking the demonstrations, the Turkish state forces killed 4 civilians.

Despite the walls built by the Turkish state, the villagers struggle to go to their fields. Turkish soldiers targeting civilians on their way to their fields continue to add new ones to their crimes against civilians.
