More than 117,000 people are housed in camps in northern and eastern Syria. Especially in recent times, the flight of people is increasing again and the camps get massively overcrowded.
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria tries to provide the refugees in the camps as much as possible from their own resources and to guarantee their safety. However, the funds available are not enough.
Some relief organizations are also active in the region, providing food, medical care and tents to those seeking protection. However, according to the camp administration, this help reaches only about 30 to 40 percent of the population. Although the winter months are approaching, people in the camps still lack tents, blankets and other basic necessities.
Şêxmûs Ehmed from the Refugee and Migration Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria warns that this situation can be dangerous, especially in the cold months. He calls on international aid organizations to provide the necessary help before the onset of winter.
On the other hand, the autonomous administration continues to rely on a return campaign to the liberated areas. In this context, 1,136 people seeking protection from Deir ez-Zor, Manbij, Raqqa and Tabqa were able to return home.
