Sharifa Mohammadi, a political prisoner sentenced to death in Iran's Lakan Prison, shared a message about the trial process and the Iranian state's approach.
Mohammadi said that Lakan Prison authorities informed her on her birthday that she was sentenced to death. “During the interrogation, they tried to torture me and forced me to sign written confessions. But I refused, so I was tortured again and my face was damaged.”
Sharifa Mohammadi stated: “After being tortured and getting black eyes, I was put in solitary confinement for three months and was not allowed to meet with other female prisoners. The reason for my punishment is that I have been a member of the coordination and assistance committee of workers' institutions and organizations for more than 10 years. However, I carried out all my work openly.
I still don't know what crime I have committed to deserve this unjust punishment, but spring has come again and no winter will last forever. One should not live and kneel in sorrow and despair, but live in hope.”
