2nd Düsseldorf Kurdish Film Festival kicks off

The 2nd Düsseldorf Kurdish Film Festival opened on Wednesday night. The festival started with the screening of "The Virgin and Child" by Binevşa Bêrîvan. The opening event drew the participation of many directors, actors, producers, cinematographers, and art directors.
Filmmakers began gathering at the Ufa Palast Cinema from 5:00 PM onwards. Prominent names such as directors Binevşa Bêrîvan, Hawraz Mohamed, Olmo Couto, and Ali Kemal Çınar were also present.
The opening ceremony was attended by dozens of singers, writers, theater artists, folklorists, poets, and musicians, including Şemdîn, Berfîn Emektar, Cewad Merwanî, Yunis Behram, Hekîm Sefkan, Bermal Çem, Sosin, Hakan Akay, Canê, Diyar, Yılmaz Beyazgül, Sırri Ayhan, and Serhad Çarnewa.
The entrance hall of Ufa Palast Cinema was decorated in Kurdish colors, and participants from all four parts of Kurdistan drew considerable attention.
The screening of "The Virgin and Child" officially began at 8:00 PM. A brief speech was given on behalf of the festival management before the screening, announcing that a total of 40 feature and short films, as well as documentaries, would be showcased during the festival.

At the 2nd Düsseldorf Kurdish Film Festival today, two films will be shown at Ufa Palast Cinema, and eleven feature and short films at Metropol Cinema. Additionally, a special screening will be held at Metropol for Bavê Teyar. Here’s the day’s program:
At Ufa Palast Cinema:
8:00 PM: Screening of the film "Beriya Şevê", directed by Ali Kemal Çınar, known for his unique characters and films in recent years. Runtime: 60 minutes.
9:50 PM: Screening of "Asadur", a documentary directed by Onur Güler. Runtime: 50 minutes.
At Metropol Cinema:
4:00 PM: Two back-to-back documentaries about the Anfal Genocide will be screened:

Screening of the documentary "Serê Kaniyê", directed by Olmo Couto. Runtime: 60 minutes. The documentary will have its world premiere.

A special screening in honor of the late theater artist Bavê Teyar, who was martyred at the Tishrin Dam, will be held. Three short films in which he acted will be shown:
