Leyla Guven started her indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike on November 8. As the hunger strike continues on day 75, the hunger strike other prisoners launched has reached day 37.

According to an article by the Mesopotamia Agency, there are at least 250 prisoners on hunger strikes with the same demand. There are also indefinite and non-alternate hunger strikes in place in Hewler in the Federal Kurdistan Region, Strasbourg in France and Newport, Wales in the UK.

Lawyer Gulsen Ozbek was unable to meet with Leyla Guven when she visited the Diyarbakir Type E Closed Prison on Sunday evening.

Gulsen spoke to Guven’s wardmates and said Guven is not well. She said: “The Ministry of Health ordered more checkups for her, but Leyla Guven is refusing to be examined.”
