Maxmur people protest the deadly Turkish attack on the camp

Following a Turkish drone attack, the people of Maxmur gathered in front of the People's Assembly and marched to the scene of the attack that claimed a life earlier today.

At 12:40 local time today, a Turkish drone bombed a house in the Martyr Rustem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

A resident of the camp, named Abu Zêyd Ebdullah Ubêyd, was injured as a result of the attack. Having suffered a serious injury, he lost his life at the Geyare Hospital where he was taken.

The people of Maxmur gathered in front of the People's Assembly to protest the drone attack and marched to the scene of the deadly attack.

A press statement was read by the People's Assembly Co-Chair, Yusuf Kara, who condemned the silence of the KDP administration and the Iraqi government and called on the United Nations Iraq Representation to fulfil its responsibilities.

"Plans and attacks have been underway for a long time to evacuate the camp " Kara said.

The body of the fallen camp resident will be brought to the Martyrs’ Families Association before burial.
