12 years old Helin Hasret Şen lost her life as result of fire opened from a Kobra type armored vehicle of Turkish security forces on 12 October 2015 as the Turkish state’s genocidal military offensive in Sur district of Amed (Diyarbakır) continued.

The second hearing in the case opened against policeman Abdullah E. for “reckless killing” was held at Diyarbakır 1st Heavy Penal Court on Tuesday. The culprit attended the hearing via video conferencing system SEGBIS.

The slain girl’s mother Nazmiye Şen, lawyers Rahşan Bataray, Abdullah Zeytun, Mehmet Emin Aktar and Amed Bar President Cihan Aydın attended the hearing.

The murderer policeman defended himself saying; “The Kobra vehicles have low resolution. At times, one cannot clarify if the person in sight is a kid or an adult.”

Mother Nazmiye Şen stated that there was no clash on the day when her daughter was killed, nor did an explosion take place in the area. “I just heard three gunshots from an armored vehicle,” she told.

Lawyers stated that Helin was directly targeted and murdered.

Witness policeman Erdal K. Also confirmed that there were no reports of armed confrontation that day.

The court rejected the request for arrest, ordered the exclusion of the suspect from hearing and adjourned the hearing to June 4.
