A memorial was held for Giorgiana Masi, who had been murdered by the police in Rome in 1966. Hunger striker Erol Aydemir spoke in the memorial service and said fascist states have the same system.

Several NGOs came together in the Italian capital to hold a memorial service on the anniversary of Giorgiana Masi’s murder. The memorial attendees showed support for the hunger strikers demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and Erol Aydemir, who has been on a hunger strike in Rome for 53 days against the isolation, spoke in the service.

Aydemir pointed out that fascist states have the same system and added: “The fascist state mindset that murdered university student Giorgiana in 1977 in Rome is today killing Kurdish youth and children in Kurdistan. There are over 7.000 prisoners on hunger strikes, and 30 prisoners have gone on a death fast. Hunger strikes continue in Hewler, Strasbourg and various cities around the world. We must stand shoulder to shoulder everywhere against fascism. That is the only way we can be rid of fascist systems.”
