Fashion designer in Hamburg sews masks for Heyva Sor

Fashion designer Inci Hakbilen from Hamburg sews face masks with Kurdish motifs. She wants to use the proceeds from the sale to support the Kurdish Red Crescent for the ongoing sponsored family campaign.

In Germany, as of Monday, a measure to contain the coronavirus pandemic will be compulsory wearing masks when shopping and on public transport. Hamburg-based fashion designer Inci Hakbilen is sewing face masks with Kurdish motifs. She wants to use the proceeds from the sale to support the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê) for the ongoing twin family campaign.

Heyva Sor's campaign was created to support needy families in Kurdistan during the pandemic.

Inci Hakbilen says the following about her idea: "When the coronavirus spread all over the world, I too thought about what I could do. In Hamburg, wearing masks will be compulsory in public transport and shops from Monday. That gave me the idea to sew masks."

The fashion designer is supported in her work by two other people. As of today the masks are available in her bridal and evening dress shop (Neuer Kamp 21).
