Huge turnout on the first day of voting abroad

Overseas voting for the May 14 elections in Turkey started on April 27. On the first day, voter turnout was high, especially in Germany and France.

Overseas voting at foreign representations and customs stations began on April 27. Long queues were observed outside the polling stations in many countries.

It is reported that voter turnout was higher on the first day than in the previous elections.

According to the data of the Supreme Election Board (YSK), there are 3 million 416 thousand 98 voters abroad.

In total, 5 thousand 40 ballot boxes were set up in representation offices in 73 countries and 156 polling stations. The number of voters who would cast their votes abroad for the first time is said to be 277 thousand 646.

The highest number of voters resides in Germany with 1 million 501 thousand 152 people. Germany is followed by France and the Netherlands.

In the 2018 elections, the turnout in Germany was approximately 45.8 percent, excluding polling stations at customs. Overall turnout abroad remained at 50 percent.

In the 2018 elections, the AKP received 51.02 percent of the overseas votes, the CHP 17.62 percent and the HDP 17.34 percent.

VOTER TURNOUT SOARED ON FIRST DAY

It is reported that the turnout remained high on the first day, especially in Germany and France.

According to data, the turnout stood at 54.50 percent in Germany, 53.62 percent in France, and 40.52 percent in Austria. It is reported that 44 thousand 59 votes were cast on April 27 at the representative offices, apart from polling stations at customs.

AKP PEOPLE HARASSED VOTERS IN BERLIN

In the meantime, AKP supporters harassed voters at the consulate in Berlin with banners that read AKP. Observers from the Green Left Party intervened to prevent AKP members who arrived in front of the consulate with banners that read AKP in their hands from entering the voting booths. Green Left Party members said that they would not allow AKP members to make propaganda at the polling station, and demanded that AKP members be taken outside the station.
