Long March in France on its 23rd day

The 26-day Long March in France continued in Saint Avold on its 23rd day.

The 26-day “Long March” launched in France on 21 January continues on its 19th day. The action, which draws public attention to Öcalan’s 26 years of captivity in the İmralı Island Prison in Turkey, is organised as part of the international campaign launched in October 2023, demanding “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question”.

The activists will conclude the action with a rally in Strasbourg on February 15, the anniversary of the international conspiracy that resulted in the capture of the Kurdish leader in Kenya and his handover to Turkey in 1999.

The Long March continued on its 23rd day in Saint Avold. The activists gathered at the Rue Lemire Square where they met with Kurdish residents. Politician Ferhat Encü also joined the demonstration today.

The activists marched with great enthusiasm under heavy rainfall and distributed leaflets about the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question” campaign and the purpose of the 26-day Long March.

The activists read a declaration in front of Saint Avold Town Hall, which was the stop of today's march. Afterwards, the activists attended a panel discussion with the participation of politician Ferhat Encü.

The Long March activists will travel to Strasbourg tomorrow, about 130 km away.
