Prison visits and more foreign flights suspended in Turkey

Increasing measures to battle coronavirus in Turkey where 5 cases have been confirmed so far.

Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Cahit Turhan and Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül held a press conference after the Science Council meeting on coronavirus pandemic on Friday.

Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül said that the decisions made by the Ministry during Thursday’s meeting will be put into practice, such as the cancelation of foreign trips till the end of April. Gül stated that the measures against coronavirus include the suspension of visits to open and closed prisons for two weeks.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan said that the disinfection of public transportation vehicles continues regularly.

The Minister announced that flights from Germany, France, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands will be suspended as of 8 am tomorrow until April 17.

Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca then answered journalists’ questions on the state of 5 infected patients. He said that the three new cases confirmed on Friday had come into contact with the other two. He said all five cases are directly related and two of the patients have difficulty in breathing.
