At a meeting held at the Essen Democratic Kurdish Community Center, the PYD Germany planned the necessary steps for the preparation of the march that will take place in Cologne on 16 November. The event marks the second phase of the international campaign launched on 10 October 2023 to demand freedom for Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question.
Zozan Rojava, a member of the PYD European Women’s Assembly, underlined in a statement the commitment of all members to work with a spirit of mobilization. She urged the Kurdish community across Europe, representing the four parts of Kurdistan, from Bakur to Rojava, from Rojhilat to Başûr, to attend the rally in Cologne, and said: "We must break the isolation of our leader and stand for his freedom. Our people should prioritize this day, as it holds historical importance for our community."
