Spanish state under state of alarm from today

The Spanish state declared the state of alarm as from today while Hungary closed all schools.

The Spanish government announced on Friday that it was implementing a state of alarm for 15 days in a bid to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Speaking at a press conference Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez informed the people that the Cabinet would meet today to put the measure into effect, allowing the government to temporarily restrict the movement of citizens. Fundamental rights, he said, will not be affected.

The Socialist Party leader went on to explain that the state of alarm "would allow for the maximum mobilization of resources against the virus, but victory will depend on each one of us. Heroism also consists of washing your hands and staying at home. We are going to stop the virus with responsibility, and with unity."

Hungary closes schools

Hungary is closing all schools and will continue education as best as it can via digital channels, its prime minister Viktor Orbán has said.

In a Facebook video, he said he expected the Hungarian economy to stall soon and it will have to be restarted; an effort the government will participate in.
