Syrian Women's Council rejects draft constitution

The Syrian Women's Council rejected the draft constitution, calling for the rights of all Syrian communities, including women, to be guaranteed.

The Syrian Women's Council issued a statement regarding the draft constitution prepared by the Damascus government.

The Council stated that the draft constitution was prepared with complete disregard for the long struggle of Syrian women against dictatorship. It emphasized that this represents a systematic injustice against women's aspirations and their desire to actively participate in rebuilding their country.

The statement noted that the draft constitution does not reflect national diversity, fails to protect women's rights and identities, and cannot serve as a 'social constitution' that safeguards the existence and identity of all citizens.

The Council emphasized that it completely rejects the draft constitution and called for the creation of a constitution that reflects the demands of the Syrian people and guarantees the rights of all communities, including women.
