Last Wednesday, the General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a state of emergency in the entire region to confront the challenges and threats of the Turkish occupation army and prepare for them.
The Turkish occupation state raised the level of threats during the past few days regarding an imminent aggression against northern and eastern Syria and the democratic project in the region.
In this context, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Euphrates region, Muhammad Şahin, said that they take the threats of the Turkish occupation state against the Syrian territories very seriously.
Speaking to ANHA, Şahin stated, "We have gained experience from the occupation of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. We live daily the impact of these threats, and they are not new, but their intensity has increased in recent period, as a continuation of the Turkish role in fueling the country's crisis and occupying more lands. So we take it seriously."
Şahin remarked that Turkey’s ruling party, AKP, experiences the worst political and economic crisis ever in the country, and this extends to include a crisis in the international diplomatic field. According to him, all these crises push the party to launch threats against northern and eastern Syria to achieve political gains and popular support.
Regarding the state of emergency declared by the Autonomous Administration, he said, "Given the severity of the threats uttered by Turkey, the Autonomous Administration declared a state of emergency in northeastern Syria. All institutions will work accordingly to confront these threats, and all citizens must prepare for these threats and move seriously to confront any attack that might come anytime soon.”
"The Turkish attacks are continuing on the front lines and reconnaissance planes hardly leave the region's skies, but there is a possibility that they will expand and start the attack at any time," he noted.
Regarding the diplomatic efforts of the Autonomous Administration to deter the occupation, Muhammad Şahin said, "As everyone knows, our administration is working in full swing and making strenuous efforts through diplomatic missions in order to stop threats and any attack that the Turkish state may conduct soon. We seek to create an internationally united front against the Turkish occupation and its brutality."
