Following the drone attack on a checkpoint of internal security forces, Asayish, east of Kobanê in northern Syria last night, the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates region has called on the guarantor countries of the ceasefire in Syria to assume their responsibility and prevent attacks by Turkey.
"The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as part of the agreement on the ceasefire negotiated last year, have dismantled their positions in the border strip and withdrawn their weapons to positions outside the so-called security zone. Nevertheless, the Turkish state is still attacking Kobanê and the surrounding area of Girê Spî (Tal Abyad)," said the co-chairman of the federal Euphrates region Executive Council, Mihemed Şahin in a press conference in Kobanê on Tuesday.
Mihemed Şahin said the following: "While the rest of the world is committed to the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic and we in the autonomous region of North and East Syria are also trying to fight the virus, Turkey has nothing else to do but attack our regions in the middle of Ramadan. Russia and the US have a duty to ensure that the ceasefire is respected.
According to the Asayish General Command, the two drone attacks on a checkpoint of the internal security forces occurred last night between 3:00 and 3:40 am. No people were injured, but there was material damage.
“We are still acting within the framework of international calls for a ceasefire. We call upon the guarantor countries to see the attacks of the Turkish state and fulfil their responsibility,” said the statement of the Asayish General Command.
