Turkey and HTŞ meet after tension in Idlib

Reports are talking about the parties in Idlib finally meeting after the tensions and conflicts between the Turkish army and the HTŞ.

It is reported that after the tensions and conflicts between the Turkish army and Heyet Tehrir El Damascus (HTŞ) in Idlib, Turkish officials have started to meet with the mercenary group.

Earlier today during the Turkish-Russian joint patrol along the Aleppo-Latakia (M4) highway, the Turkish army opened fire on a group of people protesting in the region killing two.

It was reported that after the killing of two people in Neyrab, Turkish army drones targeted one base of the HTŞ.

It was also stated that the HTŞ targeted a Turkish military point in Neyrab and destroyed a tank.

Furthermore it was stated that a delegation of Turkish officials and HTŞ members met in al Mustama camp after the tension increased. HTŞ media said that the meeting is continuing.

Moscow Agreement

After the clashes between the Turkish army and the Syrian army in Idlib in February, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan went to Moscow and asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree a truce.

The following resolutions were signed in the ceasefire signed on 5 March:

1- Stop all military activities in Idlib starting from March 6.

2- Opening a security corridor 6 kilometers north and 6 kilometers south of the Aleppo-Latakia highway (M4)

3- Russian-Turkish patrols to begin on 15 March along the security corridor opened.

Tension grows as patrolling began

In recent days, however, al-Nusra, Tehrir El Damascus (HTŞ) and many groups closed the road and opposed the patrol.

Upon the tension experienced in the past days, the Turkish state sent its police force to the region. The HTŞ had deployed its armed members against the Turkish police.
