The struggle of the heroes of Kurdistan is heard wherever there is meaningful life. The guerrillas, who resist the enemy fearlessly with determination and strength, become the voice of freedom. The comrades of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this cause do not leave their weapons on the ground and follow their cause. Mizgîn Aşkar (Avesta Têkoşîn), one of the heroes who sacrificed her life for the sake of freedom, was born in Siirt in 1993 as a member of a family belonging to the patriotic Didêrî tribe in the Botan region. Like every Kurdish child, she was exposed to the enemy's attacks and pressures at an early age. Especially after she started school, she learned more about the reality of the enemy. This also led Mizgîn to question some things. She could not make sense of the lifestyle imposed on her and did not want to be shaped by it.
Despite all the dirty policies of the enemy, especially assimilation, she insisted on her culture and language. However, she realised that living conditions were an obstacle to her childhood dreams. For this reason, all she sought was a safe and free life. Especially by getting to know Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan) and the freedom movement, she realised her strength and gained self-confidence. Her family is a valuable family that paid a great price in the struggle for freedom. Of course, this affected Mizgîn deeply. Thanks to her family and her environment, she took part in many activities and became active. However, her biggest dream was to become a guerrilla one day and avenge the pain she suffered from the enemy for years. In 2014, Mizgîn reached a certain level of determination and joined the Kurdistan Freedom Movement to put into practice the intensifications she had experienced. After joining the guerrilla ranks, she took the name Avesta Têkoşîn.
Seeing the guerrillas was no longer a dream for her. She was overflowing with excitement and happiness. Avesta Têkoşîn, who joined the guerrillas from Garzan, where she had been dreaming of for years, received her first training here. Impressed by the comradeship relations in the PKK and the lifestyle of the guerrillas, Avesta gained both military and ideological competence with the training she received and became strongly involved in practical work. Avesta, as an exemplary YJA Star guerrilla with her militant stance and life, made an intense effort to educate herself and make the information she received from these trainings a part of her life. Towards the end of 2015, after the successful Garzan practice, guerrilla Avesta moved to the Medya Defence Zones and participated in activities in the Heftanîn region. She took part in the actions against the total annihilation attacks launched by the occupying Turkish state against the freedom movement and the Kurdish people.
Avesta Tekoşîn participated in many actions in the Heftanîn area as a commander, and gave courage and confidence to her comrades with her success in these actions. After two years of successful Heftanîn practice to become a professional guerrilla, she enrolled in the military academies developed for the restructuring of the guerrilla and studied in the heavy weapons branch. After successfully completing her training, she turned to practical areas again. She moved to the Metîna area with great morale and strength. The guerrilla Avesta, who responded to enemy attacks by taking part in mobile guerrilla teams, became an exemplary YJA Star militant who led the resistance in many areas of Metîna, especially in Girê Hakkarî.
Guerrilla Avesta Têkoşîn was martyred in June 2023 as a result of an attack by the Turkish state. During her 10-year struggle, guerrilla Avesta always fought resolutely, fulfilled her historical role and mission as a woman commander in the most difficult conditions. Having fought unwaveringly until her last breath, Martyr Avesta Têkoşîn took her place in the freedom struggle as a pioneering YJA Star militant with her belief in victory.
