The French Kurdish Women's Movement will organize actions and events in many cities to mark 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
In a written statement, the French Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-F) said: "It's time to defend a free society and free women against violence!"
The statement was published to mark 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and said: “As women, we welcome 25 November 2021 under these extraordinary conditions at a time when very important developments are experienced all over the world and especially in Kurdistan. The Kurdish freedom movement and the struggle of Kurdish women for more than forty years proved that an alternative democratic confederal system based on the reality of organized peoples can be built in Kurdistan and the Middle East. This reality became concrete with the Rojava revolution.”
The statement continued: “For this reason, it is not in vain that the Kurdish freedom struggle, the values it has created and the gains of all democratic forces are targeted. Increasing the organized struggle of women to protect their existence and ensure their freedom in order to protect and expand the gains made in favour of women's freedom will be the greatest response to these attacks.
We are the successors of Sakine Cansız."
