A reconnaissance drone belonging to the international anti-ISIS coalition has crashed in Hewlêr.

A reconnaissance drone operated by the international anti-ISIS coalition crashed in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Tuesday evening.

The cause of the crash is unclear. According to information from security circles, a technical defect is suspected. The UAV went down in Hewlêr (Erbil) and crashed into the driveway of a residential complex. No one was injured, but there was property damage.

The crash site is in the Sêbîran district, about eight kilometers northwest of Hewlêr Airport. An important base of the global alliance against the terrorist organization Islamic State is located on the premises of the airport.

According to Asayîş circles, coalition troops have recovered security-sensitive equipment such as cameras and other debris and initiated investigations into the cause of the crash. There was initially no official notification.
