YJK-Scandinavia calls for mobilisation for the freedom of Leader Öcalan

YJK-Scandinavia calls for mobilisation for the freedom of Leader Öcalan, saying, “As women, let us increase our organisation and raise the struggle.”

‘The ‘Tîrêjên Rojê’ Campaign launched by the Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) on 2 September as part of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ was declared to the public in front of the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva, Switzerland on 4 September.

The campaign stands for uniting around Leader Abdullah Öcalan and aims to spread his ideas to “everyone, every house, every street, every school”. The campaign will continue uninterruptedly with actions and activities until 12 October.

The Kurdish Women's Union in Scandinavia released a statement expressing their support for the Tîrêjên Rojê Campaign initiated by TJK-E, stating that they will put the campaign at the centre of all the work in their field.

The statement by the Kurdish Women's Union in Scandinavia said:

“With the impact and power of the resistance of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) and the struggle of the Kurdish people and their friends, some interlocutors have made a statement. As a result of 26 years of just and persistent struggle, they had to make a statement. We do not find it right and do not accept that the lifting of the isolation within the scope of the decision taken at the Council of Europe Council of Ministers Meeting should be spread over a period of 1 year! We want the physical freedom of our leader to be ensured right now. History has given us the opportunity to create a free identity with a free leader. For this reason, our women's movement in particular gives us historic days with every step it takes in line with the paradigm of our leader.

The ‘Tîrêjên Rojê’ campaign initiated by the TJK-E will continue in this process with further mobilisation. The international conspiracy that started in the person of Leader Apo on 9 October 1998 targeted the existence, will, identity and women's freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. With his stance in İmralı, our leader has always adopted a stance and attitude trying to frustrate this. He took the brotherhood and unity of peoples and women's freedom as a basis. Women and Kurdish people have been on the streets for 26 years. With the strong development of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question’ campaign, the conditions for breaking the Imrali isolation and ensuring the physical freedom of Leader Apo are more favourable than ever. As women, let us increase our organisation and raise the struggle.

As YJK-Scandinavia Women's Movement, we call on all our people and friends, especially women, to mobilise for the freedom of Leader Apo these days when we are going through such a historic and important process. On this basis, we call on all women in Scandinavia to take their place at the forefront of the women's cortege in the march we will stage on 2 November (Stockholm, Malmö and Oslo) demanding the physical freedom of Leader Apo!”
