PKK: Rojava Revolution paved the way for democratic Middle East

"We believe that in the seventh year of the historic Freedom Revolution, the peoples of Rojava Kurdistan and Syria will enhance the struggle for a Democratic Syria and Free Kurdistan, and pave the way further for a Democratic Middle East Revolution."

Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) Executive Committee released a statement marking the sixth anniversary of the July 19 Rojava Revolution.

PKK celebrated the sixth year of the July 19, 2012 Rojava Revolution for all peoples, stressing that the revolution will make a further progress in its seventh year.

The statement by PKK said the following;

“July 19, 2012 is the day when our people in Rojava Kurdistan manifested their will and determination for free life. The will for honorable free life, that had been manifested in the Great Death Fast of July 14, 1982 has become a permanent popular attitude in Rojava Kurdistan on July 19, 2012. On this basis, we congratulate the historic Rojava Freedom Revolution for first of all its architect Leader Abdullah Öcalan, our people in Rojava Kurdistan, Rojava Freedom Forces and all humanity. We remember with respect and gratitude all the martyrs of freedom and democracy in the person of martyrs of Kobanê and Afrin resistance. We believe that in the seventh year of the revolution, our people will expand the social and cultural revolution, strengthen their self-defense and develop their political struggle basing on democratic Syrian unity.

ROJAVA REVOLUTION PAVED THE WAY FOR DEMOCRATIC MIDDLE EAST

As is known, the July 19 Rojava Revolution, that unfolded as a part of Kurdistan and Syrian revolutions, developed on the basis of Leader Apo’s democratic modernity theory, and paved the way for free Kurdistan, democratic Syria and democratic Middle East. It developed the democratic unity and fraternity of the Kurdish people with all peoples in Syria and the Middle East, with the Arab society in the first place, and started the regional democratic revolution of peoples. Putting up a heroic resistance against al-Qaeda and ISIS gangs, and the genocidal colonialist Turkish fascism’s occupation of Jarablus, al-Bab and Afrin, it became the leading force defending democratic Syrian unity. It fostered the process of transformation into democratic nation with the democratic confederalism system based on democratic autonomy which it developed in Northern and Eastern Syria.

ROJAVA REVOLUTION ALSO BECAME A REVOLUTION FOR WOMEN’S FREEDOM

Without a doubt, Rojava Revolution has also become a revolution for women’s freedom as much as it is a social revolution for freedom and democracy. In ideological and practical terms, it developed under the lead of women, determined the social freedom level of Kurdistan and Syria revolutions, and played a historic role as a spark in terms of developing a revolution for women’s freedom around the world. On this basis, all the socialist, revolutionary and democratic forces of the world were forced to re-question themselves in theoretical, ideological and tactical respect.

ALL KINDS OF FOREIGN INVASION ATTACKS WERE RESISTED

During the past six years, the libertarian spirit and attitude that our people in Rojava Kurdistan manifested against all kinds of foreign invasion and attacks, and the heroic struggle they waged despite the loss of thousands of martyrs, has become a historic example and gravity force for all humanity.

Indeed, a respectable and commendable libertarian attitude, courage and sacrifice has been manifested. Especially the Kurdish women’s will for free life and the heroic resistance developed under the lead of YPJ has influenced the entire world, becoming a great source of morale and strength for all women of the world.

ROJAVA REVOLUTION HAD A DEEPER INFLUENCE ON TURKEY

The Rojava Freedom Revolution influenced the entire region and the world, but had an even deeper and stronger impact on Turkey. Young people and revolutionary-democratic movements from Turkey rushed to Rojava, more than from anywhere else in the world, and fought for freedom and socialism, shoulder to shoulder with the people of Rojava against fascist attacks of the gangs inside and capitalist-colonialist interventions coming from outside. The revolutionary youth from Turkey that went to the border town of Suruç to cross into Rojava for solidarity with the revolution, on its third anniversary, were targeted by a massacre in the form of an alliance by MIT-ISIS on July 20, 2015. On its third anniversary, we condemn this massacre in the strongest terms, and remember the victims with respect and gratitude.

FASCIST INVASION WILL BE ERADICTED

We believe that in the seventh year of the historic Freedom Revolution, the peoples of Rojava Kurdistan and Syria will enhance the struggle for a Democratic Syria and Free Kurdistan in all aspects, and pave the way further for a Democratic Middle East Revolution. They will strengthen the peoples’ democratic unity and spirit of brotherhood against all kinds of foreign invasion and intervention. Stepping up the revolutionary struggle against fascist Turkish occupation that targets Afrin and many other areas in Syria, they will eradicate the fascist AKP-MHP invasion from the areas in question. They will deepen the social-cultural revolution under the lead of women and youth, and successfully lead their efforts for the building of democratic nation in the line of free individual and democratic commune.

On this basis, we once again celebrate the sixth year of the July 19 Rojava Freedom Revolution, remember the martyrs of revolution with respect and wish outstanding success to our people in Rojava Kurdistan and the peoples of Syria in their fight for freedom, democracy and brotherhood. May victory always be theirs.”
