In a statement, the HPG praised his uncompromising commitment and outstanding role in the fight for a free Kurdistan. "We promise to carry the flag of resistance he handed over to victory," the statement read. The HPG provided the following details about the fallen guerrilla:

 Codename: Amed Botan

First and last name: Mihemed Hikmet

 Mother's and father's names: Lema – Hikmet

Date and place of death: 20 October 2021 / Zap

Amed Botan was born into a patriotic family in Qamishlo, Rojava. He came into contact with the Kurdish freedom movement at an early age and was deeply impressed by the beliefs and stance of the PKK. Even as a child, he developed a keen sense of injustice, especially in the context of the state's assimilation policy. Dreams of armed resistance accompanied him from a young age.

With the rise of the Rojava Revolution, his political commitment intensified. He became an active part of the Kurdish youth movement, worked tirelessly to organize it, and opposed the attacks on the revolution's achievements. Over the years, the decision to join the guerrilla forces matured within him – not as a reaction, but out of deep conviction and the desire to serve his people as a fighting part of the movement.

In 2017, Amed Botan joined the ranks of the guerrillas. The natural beauty of Kurdistan, the deep solidarity among the fighters, and the ideological foundations of the movement had a profound impact on him. He completed his training with enthusiasm and seriousness, immersing himself in both ideological and military content, and strove to become a well-rounded and responsible fighter.

Deployment in the Zap Front Region

He acquired extensive knowledge and soon earned the trust of his companions. His calm, focused manner, his sharp mind, and his strong will made him a respected comrade in many regions of the Medya Defense Zones.

When the Turkish army began massive attacks on the Avashin, Metina, and Zap regions in 2021, Amed Botan was among those resolutely resisting on the front lines. He fought with great determination and sacrifice as part of the "Bazên Zagrosê" offensive.

In Zap, he demonstrated an uncompromising attitude right from the start of his deployment: It was clear to him that protecting the country was only possible through consistent resistance. His participation in numerous actions, his calm demeanor even in critical moments, as well as his modesty and respectful treatment of all fellow fighters left a deep mark.

Amed Botan fell as a martyr on 20 October 2021, during an enemy attack in Zap. He leaves behind not only the memory of a courageous fighter, but also a legacy of unwavering commitment, profound humanity, and loyalty to the idea of a free Kurdistan. "Through his life and work, Amed Botan showed us what it means to be an apoist fighter. His name will remain indelibly etched in our history. We pay tribute to his memory, express our condolences to his family and the entire patriotic people of Kurdistan, and renew our promise to make his dream of a free Kurdistan a reality."
