The name ‘Ridêxan’ given to a park by the Silvan Municipality Council was rejected by the district governor on the grounds that it was a ‘foreign language’.
The Council of Silvan Municipality under the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) administration decided to rename the 1st Kılıçarslan City Square as “Rindêxan”. The construction of the square was completed in 2023 and was named ‘1st Kılıçarslan City Square’ by the trustee appointed by the government.
The Silvan District Governor's Office rejected the municipality's decision to change the name on the grounds that it was ‘not Turkish, not included in the dictionary of the Turkish Language Association and formed according to foreign language rules’.
