Families and lawyers apply for a visit to Imralı

The lawyers and families of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the other prisoners in Imralı made a new application to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to be granted a visit.

The brother of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, Mehmet Öcalan and his tutelar, Mazlum Dinç, applied to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requesting permission to go to Imralı between 27 and 30 April.

Ömer Hayri Konar’s brother Ali Konar, Hamili Yıldırım's brother Polat Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş' sister Melihe Çetin, also applied to the prosecutor's office through their lawyers. The families said that they want to be granted a phone call with their relatives in the event of being denied a visitation.

Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş had been able to meet with their relatives on 5 June, 12 August 2019 and 2 March 2020. They had not seen their relatives since 15 March 2015.

Hamili Yıldırım has been able to meet with his family only on 5 June and 12 August 2019 but not on 2 March 2020 because his brother was ill.

Öcalan's lawyers Rezan Sarıca, Raziye Turgut, İbrahim Bilmez and Serbay Köklü have also applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday to meet with their clients on a convenient day between 27 and 30 April.

Öcalan’s lawyers were able to meet with their client on 2 May, 22 May, 12 June, 18 June and 7 August 2019 after 8 years of isolation.

All the applications made by lawyers since 7 August 2019 have gone unanswered.
