As part of the “Tîrêjên Roje” campaign carried out by the European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) on the occasion of the anniversary of the international initiative launched to demand freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, a press release and a human chain were organized in Lucerne. Speaking at the event, KCDK-E member Musa Farisoğulları drew attention to the fact that Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in isolation for 26 years and called for an escalation of the actions demanding his freedom.
Farisoğulları added: "As it is known, October has a different meaning for us. On October 9, 1999, a conspiracy involving many countries was set up. With this move against our Leader, together with local collaborators, Leader APO was taken prisoner. Leader APO has been under isolation for 26 years. We should all self-criticize in the face of the fact that the isolation is still ongoing today.
We should increase the struggle for this. In this context, participation in the rallies to be held in Basel on October 12 and in Cologne on November 16 is very important."
Gewher Altürk, co-chair of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center of Lucerne (CDK-Luzern), said: "We cannot receive any news from our Leader. We are addressing the CPT from here: your silence towards the Leader of the Kurdish people is an indication of your complicity. We will be in the streets until our Leader is free."
