Masses gather in Strasbourg for the central rally, chanting "Bijî Serok Apo"

Kurds are demonstrating in Strasbourg today to condemn the February 15 conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan, chanting the slogans “Bijî Serok Apo” (Long Live Leader Öcalan) and “Bê Serok Jiyan Nabe” (No Life Without the Leader).

Kurdish citizens in Europe and their friends have started to gather in Strasbourg, France for the central march and rally to be held today on the 26th anniversary of the February 15th International Conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan that resulted in his arrest in Kenya and handover to Turkey in 1999.

The streets leading to the rally area have been closed since the early hours. The organizing committee is also providing security in the area.


Buses from distant cities and towns brought thousands of people to the boulevards of Lyon and Metz. The people gathering in the area are chanting “Bijî Serok Apo” (Long Live Leader Öcalan) and “Bê Serok Jiyan Nabe” (No Life Without the Leader).

Today’s demonstration is organised as part of the global campaign “Freedom for Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question” launched worldwide on October 10, 2023.

People are expected to start to march to the Parc de l'Etoile, the site of the rally, at 12:00 pm.
