Swedish Left Party to work to remove PKK from the terror list

The Left Party congress held in Sweden’s Örebro city decided to work to have the PKK removed from the list of terrorist organisations.

The Left Party congress held in Sweden’s Örebro city has decided to work to have the PKK removed from the list of terrorist organisations.

Party administration stated opinions on the contrary but the decision was taken with the majority votes from delegates. The decision of the Left Party to work to have PKK removed from the list of terrorist organisations was covered widely on the Swedish press and Kurdistani people gathered in front of the building waved PKK flags and danced to celebrate the decision.

The resolution accepted in the congress stated that the PKK had been waging an effective war against the ISIS gangs, having the PKK in the terrorist organisations list was hindering negotiations with the Turkish state and that courts of law should decide who will be on the list rather than the states.

One of the signatories of the resolution presented to the congress, Left Party former leader Lars Ohly said in a statement to the Dagens Nheter Newspaper that they had proposed the resolution to have the PKK removed from the list of terrorist organisations to support the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people.

Ohly stated that the fact that the PKK is on the list of terrorist organisations has been used by the Kurdish state to legitimize the bombings in Kurdistan and to attack the political representatives of the Kurdish people and expressed his pleasure in the resolution being accepted.

Ohly also said having the PKK on the terrorist organisations list reduced the chance for a dialogue.
