88 people were killed, injured or went missing within 24 hours of escalation in North-East Syria

According to the Consultation and Coordination Office of the Monitoring and Information Center, the number of civilians who lost their lives in North and East Syria within 24 hours from the night of December 8 to the night of December 9 reached 18 residents from the region, along with 5 injured. Additionally, 45 former Syrian regime army soldiers were killed, while the fate of 15 others remains unknown.
1- Al-Mastariha Massacre in Ain Issa:
The death toll of demobilized former Syrian regime soldiers rose to 45. They were targeted by missiles launched from Turkish drones while withdrawing from their border positions in the countryside of Ain Issa. The attack occurred in the village of Al-Mastariha in the Euphrates region. The strike happened hours after the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime and his flight from Syria on the morning of December 8, 2024.
The former Syrian regime army was deployed in October 2019 to protect the border strip with Turkey under an agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The fate of more than 15 soldiers remains unknown, and it is unclear whether they are still alive or have perished in the attacks. The soldiers had withdrawn from their positions following orders from their commanders in the former Syrian regime army to demobilize the entire military force.
The shelling also targeted civilian homes, causing a massacre that claimed the lives of 12 civilians from a single family. This tragedy coincided with the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and the Prevention of this Crime.
2- Kobani:
Turkish forces targeted the village of Kun Aftar, located in the southwestern countryside of Kobani. The shelling caused the death of two sibling children, one of whom was decapitated due to the bombardment. The children were Yusuf Abdulqader Ismail and Mazloum Abdulqader Ismail.
3- Zarkan:
On December 9, Turkish drones targeted the village of Tal Harmal, coordinates 37SFA2088685407, and the village of Um Harmala on the road connecting Zarkan town and Sere Kaniye city. The attack resulted in the death of one civilian and injured two others.
4- Zarkan:
On December 9, a Turkish drone targeted a car carrying three civilians in the Shur area, located in the eastern countryside of Sere Kaniye. All three were injured, including an elderly person, with two of them suffering severe and critical injuries.
5- Kobani:
On December 8, a Turkish drone targeted an Internal Security Forces vehicle in the Qara Qozak area, in the western countryside of Kobani. The attack caused the death of three security forces members and coincided with ongoing escalation along the de-escalation line by Turkish forces and their drones.
