Lütfiye Elo, the elder sister of guerrilla Dersim, who fell a martyr at the hands of the KDP forces in Heftanîn, said that since the betrayal continues, her pain remains fresh.
Lütfiye Elo underlined that the price of the KDP's betrayal, which killed not only her brother but hundreds of guerrillas, was very heavy, and added that the Kurdish people suffered a lot at the hands of other Kurds.
Mihemed Elo was a guerrilla from Afrin. He was known as Dersim in the mountains. He was born in Afrin in 1970. He joined the freedom struggle, which he got to know at a young age, in 1990. Working in the Rojava-Syria field for a while, Dersim moved to Bashur Kurdistan in 1992. He fell a martyr in the KDP attack in Heftanîn in 1993.
Lütfiye Elo spoke to ANF about her brother Dersim and his participation in the struggle as follows: “He was a calm and cold-blooded personality. If he saw something wrong, he would go and try to get things straight. He was a model for many. He was loved by everyone. He was studying at the village school. When he passed 6th grade, he went to Aleppo. He also attended high school there. He was loved by his friends and family. While studying at high school in Aleppo, he got familiar with the struggle. With great enthusiasm and determination, he wanted to participate in the struggle for freedom. He eventually joined the guerrillas, saying: "Enough is enough, I will join the revolution." He participated wholeheartedly, and we bid him farewell. He once said to my mother, 'You will not cry if I fall a martyr. You will sing for me. Maybe we didn’t sing, but we followed in his steps.”
The pain is still fresh
Lütfiye said: “The day we heard about his death was a very difficult day. It was hard, not just for one day, but every day. The pain is still fresh. He was the first martyr of our family, Ehraz. We are honoured to have the same blood of the martyrs of the revolution. How is it possible that those who murdered the guerrillas are still able to walk around and continue to massacre Kurdish youths? This is what keeps our pain fresh.”
The price of betrayal is heavy
Lütfiye Elo stated that the betrayal of the KDP, which killed not only her brother but hundreds of guerrillas, was very heavy and the Kurdish people suffered, and added: “It is enough to shed the blood of these people's children. Enough of the betrayal. Thousands of revolutionaries have been killed by the KDP so far. Enough of the KDP and its betrayal. A solution must be found that will set limits to the KDP.”
