The guerrilla families of Rojava, who lost their relatives in the betrayal attacks carried out by the KDP, said that the struggle against the betrayers who do everything except being Kurdish and cooperate with the enemy should be enlarged and they should be held to account.
One of the guerrillas lost in the KDP's betrayal attacks is Mustafa Ehmed from Afrin. His name in the guerrillas was Diyar. Born in 1971 in Afrin Basuta, Mustafa grew up in a patriotic family. At a young age, he got to know the struggle with the arrival of the cadres of the Kurdish Freedom Movement in Rojava. Mustafa Ehmed, who was also involved in cultural studies, joined the freedom struggle in 1993.
Mustafa Ehmed moved to South Kurdistan in 1996 after participating in the organizing activities of the movement for 3 years in Afrin and Aleppo. He fell a martyr along with 9 of his friends in the attack of the KDP forces against the Zap region in 1997.
A fighter in every area of life
Firyal Ehmed described his brother Martyr Diyar with these words: “We were 8 brothers. He was the eldest. He was a fighter in all areas of life. He protected all his siblings. Not just his siblings, but his friends as well. He was a good organizer. They were reading books together with all their friends. He was improving himself as well as those around him.”
Firyal Ehmed shared the following details about her brother's participation in the Kurdish Freedom Movement and later: “He had finished high school. The military card arrived. When my family told him to enlist, he said, 'I will never serve the regime'. It was a summer's day. We were picking apricots in the garden. He went home, took something and left. We looked for him and couldn't find him. We asked where he was going. Three days later, we learned that he went to the training given by the Freedom Movement. He returned 25 days later. He stayed with us for 2-3 hours and said that he had decided to join the movement.”
Journey to the mountains
Firyal Ehmed stated that her brother Mustafa went to the mountains of Kurdistan in 1996 and added: “He worked in Sherawa for a while, and then in Afrin and Bilbilê. Then he went to Aleppo. He sent a word one day. It was afternoon. He wanted the whole family to come to Aleppo. When we went, he said that he would fight in the mountains of Kurdistan in the next period, he wanted to say goodbye and set off. After a while, a letter and a photograph arrived. In his letter, he wrote that he had reached his destination, that he was in the Zap area now and that the work was going very well.”
What they did has nothing to do with Kurdishness
Firyal shared the following information regarding the betrayal attack that led to the martyrdom of his brother: “The KDP forces attacked the Zap area where they were located. We learned that my brother fell a martyr along with 9 of his friends. There were wounded survivors from the conflicts. When the wounded came to Syria, they told us what happened when we saw them.”
Referring to the KDP's unending betrayal, Firyal continued: "They say they are Kurds when it comes to words, but what they do has nothing to do with being Kurdish. If they were Kurds, they would not have shot their brothers, the children of this people. They have been trying to start a sibling war for years. Everyone knows that the Turkish state is the enemy of the Kurds. They also gave their hands to the Kurdish enemies and became partners. They always want to destroy us. They are fighting against the Kurds and their ideas. The KDP is doing what the Turkish state is doing.”
Firyal Ehmed underlined that the fact that the bodies of the guerrillas killed by the KDP were not handed back to their families, clearly showed what kind of people they are and what they want to do. She made the following call: “I am calling out to the KDP. Stop acting with the enemy. Return to Kurdishness and patriotism. I also want to call out to the Kurdish people. It is time to hold accountable those who have betrayed Kurdishness and Kurdistan for more than 30 years. Those who have united with the enemy and betrayed their people will one day give an account.”
