People of Aleppo protest the Jindires massacre

Residents of the self-governing neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah in Aleppo protested the killing of four local men in Afrin’s Jindires district.

The Al-Sharqiya group affiliated with the Syrian National Army opened fire on a group of Kurdish locals who wanted to light a Newroz fire in Afrin's Jindires district, claiming the lives of 4 citizens and injuring some others on the night of March 20.

Residents of the self-governing neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud (Şêxmeqsûd) and Ashrafiyah (Eşrefiyê) in Aleppo took to the streets on Saturday to protest the massacre.

Following the march through the streets of Sheikh Maqsoud, Kongra Star Aleppo Coordination Member Fehime Hemo condemned the Jindires massacre, calling it a racist crime and calling for those behind it to be prosecuted.

Defining the silence of the international community as complicity with the occupation forces, Hemo called on the people to strengthen their unity against the invaders until Afrin is freed.

Speaking after, Democratic Union Party (PYD) Aleppo Council Member Cîhan Berkel called on the Kurds all around the world to support the people of Afrin. Berkel called for the Turkish state to be brought to account for the crimes committed in the areas it has occupied in North-East Syria.
