On Saturday, SDF forces, with support from local residents, thwarted an ISIS plot targeting their forces in the town of Darnach, Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside.

In a statement about the operation, the SDF Press Center said: “Following a tip-off from residents about suspicious activity, our units responded swiftly and surrounded the area. The terrorist cell opened fire and our forces responded, AND, as a result, one ISIS terrorist was eliminated, and another escaped. A search operation was launched by our forces in the area.”

According to the statement, the cell was attempting to plant explosives in the area where SDF forces are stationed and actively operating: “This operation highlights the importance of local cooperation in defeating terrorism and securing our region.”

The SDF stressed that their forces remain committed to pursuing ISIS remnants and preventing future attacks.
