Buldan: It is a historical responsibility to endorse the HDP’s struggle

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Pervin Buldan met women in Bursa and said that “It is a historical responsibility to endorse HDP's struggle, to join forces and protect democracy”.

HDP co-chair Buldan held a meeting with the Bursa Women's Platform as part of the "No to Women's Impoverishment" campaign. HDP Women's Assembly Spokeswoman Ayşe Acar Başaran, Organizing Commission Co-Spokeswoman Özlem Gündüz, Deputy Züleyha Gülüm, Women's Coordination members Bedia Akkaya, Feray Mertoğlu, Tülay Çolak, SODAP Spokeswoman Sevtap Akdağ, Bursa Provincial Women's Assembly members and many women attended the meeting.

BAŞARAN SALUTES WOMEN’S RALLY IN ISTANBUL

Başaran saluted the women's rally for the Istanbul Convention in Taksim, Istanbul yesterday. “This struggle of women will not only destroy the barricades, but also attain the power to overthrow the male-dominated power. The solution is to organize a joint struggle,” she said.

BULDAN: DENİZ'S DREAMS WILL COME TRUE

HDP co-chair Buldan commemorated Deniz Poyraz who was murdered in the HDP İzmir headquarter in June. “I reiterate our commitment to Deniz's struggle. We will make Deniz’s dreams come true. The dreams and struggle of Deniz is our struggle and our dreams! She will live in our struggle,” she said.

SİVAS MASSACRE

Buldan also commemorated those who were murdered in the Sivas Massacre on 2 July 1993. “We know this mentality from Maraş, Çorum, Gazi, Gezi, 17 thousand unsolved murders, and the Suruç and Ankara massacres. These crimes against humanity have no statute of limitations, neither in universal law nor in our view.”

A CORRUPTED GOVERNMENT

Buldan blamed the AKP-MHP government for corruption. “As you all have witnessed, we are going through a period of great collapse caused by a corrupted government. Poverty, hunger, misery and injustice have penetrated the entire society. Except for a handful of pro-government groups, millions of people face the greatest poverty in history in Turkey.”

ISTANBUL CONVENTION

Buldan also addressed the withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. “The AKP government is the suspect and the perpetrator of every crime committed against women and children! The government which abandoned its own obligations to women and children by withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention is politically responsible for male violence.”

'HISTORICAL RESPONSIBILITY...'

“The HDP is the great alliance of women against the male alliance. The HDP is the alliance of peoples, beliefs and cultures against monism and fascism. Since they fear the HDP and the power of women, they have pressed a charge against us with baseless indictments and conspiracies. This case is a political case,” Buldan maintained.

Buldan stated that the closure case against HDP is a threat to all democratic forces.

“It is a historical responsibility for everyone who is in favour of democracy, justice, peace and a common future to stand together with the HDP, to join forces, and to protect democracy. If we walk together on this path of truth, if we fight together, we will achieve great success and we will certainly remove this darkness. We know that they gain their strength from tyranny, oppression and violence, and lawlessness. Our strength lies in our essence, in ourselves, in our determination to struggle. It is the truths and our principles that we rely on.”

After the speeches, the meeting continued closed to the press.
