The Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has published a statement on the resistance against the Turkish occupation operation in the Heftanin region of Southern Kurdistan. The statement also provides information on the activities of guerrillas against the Turkish army in other regions.
Actions in Heftanin
"At 6 pm, our forces carried out an action against operational units of the occupying forces in the area of the Hill Dupişk. Four soldiers were killed by the effective strikes targeting the enemy units.
At 7 pm, our forces took a Cobra attack helicopter in the Geliyê Pisaxa area under heavy fire. As a result, the helicopter was forced to withdraw from the area.
At 9.30 p.m., the Turkish occupying army, under the protection of attack helicopters, tried to airdrop troops to the Navsera Xantur area. Our forces targeted the attack helicopters and forced them to retreat.
At 22:40 a Cobra helicopter came into the line of fire of our forces over Xantur. The helicopter was severely hit and damaged, and was forced to turn back.
In the night hours our forces carried out a sabotage action against the occupying forces on Hill Berxwedan in Xantur area. How many soldiers were killed and injured in the sabotage could not be determined.
Air raids on Heftanin
The HPG also reported air raids on areas in Heftanin, which took place yesterday at noon. Geliyê Pisaxa, Bektorya and Xantur were bombed.
Two soldiers killed in Çukurca
The Turkish army is also carrying out military operations in Northern Kurdistan. The HPG reported operations in Çukurca district of Hakkari, Uludere district of Şırnak, Tatvan district of Bitlis and Elazığ, saying: "On June 22, our forces targeted the occupying forces in Çukurca as part of the revolutionary offensive in memory of Şehîd Bager and Şehîd Ronya in the area Şifreza. Two enemy soldiers were shot dead by our snipers."
Four guerrillas martyred
"An operation by the occupying forces launched on 21 June in Mergezerê area near Uludere was withdrawn the very next day without result. An operation launched on 19 June in the outskirts of the village of Siyamir in Tatvan was followed by air attacks and clashes. In the course of this operation our friends Çekdar and Dersim fell as martyrs. On June 22, the occupying forces withdrew from this area.
On June 8, an operation started in Elazığ in the rural area of Qerebaxan County (Arıcak). The following day fierce battles broke out between our forces and the occupying forces, resulting in heavy losses in the enemy ranks. Our friends Devran and Fîraz died in the course of the clashes in selfless struggle,” the HPG statement said.
