Park in Rome named after YPG martyr Lorenzo Orsetti

A park was named after Anarchist YPG fighter Lorenzo Orsetti in the Italian capital Rome.

Internationalist YPG  fighter Lorenzo Orsetti (Tekoser Piling) lost his life in Baghouz on March 18 during the battle against ISIS gangs. His body reached his hometown Florence on June 15 and a funeral was held on June 24.

There have been several events held in memory of the internationalist fighter Orsetti in the last week throughout Italy and a park was named after him in Rome on Thursday.

The opening ceremony in the park was held by the Independents Committee where participants gave speeches in memoriam.

Father Alesandro Orsetti was present in the ceremony and representatives from many Italian and Kurdish organizations were in attendance.

Traditional Kurdish food was served at the ceremony and Kurdish clothes and jewellery was displayed. Kurdish artist Mubin Dunen gave a concert.

The event in Rome was held as part of the festival Independents Committee organized between June 25 and 29. Thursday in the festival was for Kurdish culture, music and the Rojava revolution.
